The first trailer for Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln' with Daniel Day-Lewis

Steven Spielberg is about to knock one of his personal and professional goals off his list when Lincoln hits theaters in a couple of months. The director has been wanting to make this movie for a long time, so it should come as no surprise that he's spared no expense in making sure it was done just right. In fact, other than one random set photo of star Daniel Day-Lewis, it was only within the last few weeks that we receive anything official from it. After getting a taste of it just a couple of days ago, the full trailer for Lincoln is here and it looks about as exquisite as many hoped it would.

Based on historian Doris Kearns' Goodwin's acclaimed book, Team of Rivals, Lincoln follows the last few months of the President's life as he struggles against his own fractious Cabinet to unite a divided nation ripped apart by slavery and the Civil War. Considering the incredibly stacked cast, we probably get more of a look at them than we do Lewis, but when he finally does open his mouth to speak it's typically commanding and even a little inspiring. Spielberg's sweeping, epic cinematography is on display, but unlike last year's War Horse there appears to be a great deal of passion to go along with it.

Co-starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jackie Earle Haley, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Hal Holbrook, David Oyelowo, and Tim Blake Nelson, Lincoln opens in limited release on November 9th before expanding a week later.
