Paramount's got a twin-pack of Jack coming our way over the next few months, and they're banking hard on both being the franchise starters they need them to be. Ironically, both films star directors playing bad guys, but only one of them is present in these two new photos we've got.
The first out of the gate is Jack Reacher, which stars Tom Cruise as the ex-military dude turned butt kicking drifter, made popular in Lee Child's series of novels. The image features Cruise opposite Rosamund Pike, who plays the attorney defending a sniper accused of going on a shooting spree, with Reacher called in to investigate. Probably not the most exciting image in the world, but any chance to see more of Pike is always worth it. Now where's that photo of Werner Herzog as the villain, eh? Come on, let's have it already! Paramount wasted absolutely zero time sending out their first image of Chris Pine as Tom Clancy's CIA agent Jack Ryan, revealing him tearing down the city streets on the very first day of filming. That was quickly followed up by our first look at Kevin Costner as his mentor, William Harper, And now today we've got as the film's bad guy, who is hatching an evil plot to bring down the American economy. You're a couple years late, dude! Branagh's pulling double-duty on this one, as he's also the guy behind the camera doing that "directing" thing he occasionally does. Expect a shot of Keira Knightley as Jack Ryan's girlfriend to be the next one we get. Jack Ryan opens on Christmas Day 2013.
