Vin Diesel to star as 'The Last Witch Hunter'

>sigh< More witches. First there was Nicolas Cage's aptly named Season of the Witch, and just a couple of days ago we got the rather terrible trailer for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, and the pointy-hatted crones even played a major part in ParaNorman. So what's next? Vin Diesel: The Last Witch Hunter.  Ugh.

The Wrap reports that Diesel will star in The Last Witch Hunter, and it basically sounds like a muscle-bound version of Van Helsing. The film will be directed by Breck Eisner, who actually did a pretty good job on The Crazies a couple of years ago. He'll be saddled by a potentially awful script by Cory Goodman, who has already inflicted us with the sci-fi found footage horror Apollo 18 and the Paul Bettany actioner, Priest.

The plot should be self-explanatory, but it's actually quite contradictory to the title. The story has Diesel as one of the last remaining witch hunters, who is charged with discouraging a group of witches and warlocks from reproducing.  So basically you're telling us he's NOT "The Last Witch Hunter"? What a jip. I want my money back already.

I like Diesel a lot, and there's always the possibility it could be better than it sounds. As for when it will roll, that's unclear at this point. Diesel's currently hard at work on Fast & Furious 6, and he's also got his Riddick sequel coming up some time next year.
