Jean-Claude Van Damme goes for laughs in two 'Welcome to the Jungle' clips

"Am I smelling mari-ju-wana? You night riding on my watch, boy"? Jean-Claude Van Damme probably isnt' the first guy people think of as much of a comedian, but we've seen him play his tough exterior for laughs before, most notably in 2008's JCVD and to a certain extent in The Expendables 2. What we haven't seen him do is take on full-blown comedy....well, ever. Until now, that is.

Twitch has two new clips from Rob Meltzer's Welcome to the Jungle, a film we first noted back in January and was quickly forgotten about, but now it might be time to start paying attention again. Adam Brody plays Chris, an office wuss with a crush on the hot HR manager(Megan Boone), and is constantly having his ideas stolen by a workplace bully(Rob Huebel). Van Damme gets uncharacteristically silly as an unhinged ex-marine leading the staff on a team-building wilderness seminar, which goes horribly wrong in a Lord of the Flies sort of way.

Both clips focus on Van Damme's character, who seems obsessed with Chris and seems to be perpetually stuck on the battlefield. The second clip actually alludes to Lord of the Flies, that is until Van Damme's character veers into another oddball direction completely. I have to say, this looks pretty hilarious for Van Damme alone. No release date has been set yet, so maybe we'll see it on the festival circuit next year?
