Marvel's still trying to figure out who they want to play the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the role that will likely turn out to be that of Sharon Carter. We've seen two pairs of short lists already, with the most recent including names such as Teresa Palmer, Jessica Brown Findlay, Imogen Poots, Emilia Clarke, and Alison Brie. Mary Elizabeth-Winstead was recently set as the frontrunner, but she's been publicly backing off those rumors. Now a report from The Daily Express puts Findlay as the top pick.
Should we take it seriously? I don't know much about The Express, to be honest, but considering all the contradictory things we've heard about this hotly contested part it's probably best to not take anything too seriously. We've heard this story before, and it's always possible they were just rehashing an old bit of info. Findlay, who most will know from Downtown Abbey, is currently working on Akiva Goldsman's directorial debut, Winter's Tale.
So all of this to say we are essentially in the same spot we were before. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be directed by The Russo Brothers and star Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and possibly Frank Grillo.
