New posters for 'Stoker', 'Safe Haven', 'Hitchcock', and more
A ton of new one-sheets have dropped over the last day or two, so let's play a little catch up and jump right into this thing.
The first is the trippy and fairy tale-ish poster for Stoker, Park Chan-Wook's directorial debut which stars Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, and Matthew Goode. The creepy woodland tone of the image perfectly fits the trailers we've seen so far, which is a blend of murderous thriller and dark fable. I'm assuming all of the items twisted up in the vines will play some sort of role in the story. Wasikowska plays an eccentric young woman whose mysterious uncle turns up shortly after her father's death. It isn't long until he starts getting close to her mother, and people in the neighborhood start disappearing. Stoker arrives on March 1st 2013.
Following up on yesterday's red band trailer, a new IMAX poster for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters has surfaced. Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton play the titular fairy tale kids all grown up using advanced weaponry to hunt down witches and make bad jokes. Directed by Tommy Wirkola and co-starring Famke Janssen, look for it to open next year on January 11th.
Compare this poster for Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven to every other one and I swear they all look exactly the same. Some are in the rain, some are in the sunlight, but it's always this image of two people kissing in the same manner, which should speak to just how cookie-cutter and generic his romances are. Safe Haven stars Julianne Hough as a woman with a murky past who turns up in a close-knit North Carolina community, and falls for a hunky and perfect single dad(Josh Duhamel). Safe Haven arrives in time for Valentine's Day on February 8th.
Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren take center stage as Alfred Hitchock and his wife Alma Reville in the new poster for Hitchcock. Unlike HBO's The Girl, this film puts their relationship into the spotlight as the famous director struggles to overcome personal and professional hurdles to complete his horror classic, Psycho. Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johansson, Toni Collette, Danny Huston, and James D'Arcy co-star when Hitchcock opens on November 23rd.
* And finally, three new character posters for Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, featuring The Expendables 2 stars Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins, and Dolph Lundgren. The fourth official film in the long-running science fiction franchise pits the cyborg warriors against a man seeking revenge for the murder of his family. Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning is currently available On Demand, then hits theaters on November 30th.
