Sure Shots: Katt Williams; 'The Hobbit'; Shea Whigham
* Although filming is already underway on Scary Movie 5, when you have a chance to add someone as funny as Katt Williams you do it. Williams is the latest to join the horror spoof, to be directed by Malcolm Lee and largely riff on 2010's Black Swan. He joins Ashley Tisdale, Erica Ash, Molly Shannon, Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Terry Crews, Heather Locklear, Mike Tyson, and a slew of reality TV stars who hopefully will be slaughtered in the first act. Scary Movie 5 opens on April 12th 2013. [THR]
* Planning on seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in a couple of months? Of course you are. But you might want to invest in a butt pillow or neck rest or something, as Peter Jackson has revealed the film will run 2 hours and 40 minutes in length. Ouch. That's actually the shortest runtime for all of the Middle Earth flicks up to this point. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens on December 14th. [Empire]
* Working with Terrence Winter and Martin Scorsese on HBO's Boardwalk Empire has paid off in spades for actor Shea Whigham. The actor, who also has a role in the upcoming Silver Linings Playbook, has just joined The Wolf of Wall Street, which Winter wrote and Scorsese is directing. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Jordan Belfort, whose memoir forms the basis of the story chronicling his rise and fall from a hard partying New York investment banker, to a man wanted for fraud. Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Jon Bernthal, Rob Reiner, Jon Favreau, Jake Hoffman, Cristin Milioti, Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, and Margot Robbie co-star. [Deadline]
