Tops at the Box Office: 'Skyfall' destroys all Bond records with $87M opening

1. Skyfall- $87.8M
So, 50 years and 23 movies later and we still can't get enough James Bond, can we? To break down just how phenomenal this opening is for Skyfall, just know that it shatters the previous Bond record held by Quantum of Solace's $67M four years ago. Six years ago Casino Royale became the highest grossing Bond flick ever with $594M, and Skyfall has nearly already surpassed that with a worldwide haul of $518M. This isn't totally unexpected. The film has been doing gangbusters overseas for more than a week, and the stateside Friday opening was over $30M. If we're coming up on the end of Daniel Craig's run as Bond, as it seems we are, then he's going to go down as the most lucrative lead the franchise has ever had.

2. Wreck-It Ralph- $33.05M/$93.7M
Last week's champeen held strong only slippng 32% from last week. It seems Disney is just incapable of matching the ridiculous heights of Pixar or Dreamworks for some reason, even when their films are just as critically acclaimed. Still, they'll be happy with this and we'll likely see a sequel at some point.
3.  Flight- $15.1M/$47.8M
Finally nudging past 2000 theaters is Denzel Washington's morality tale, which is playing strong with older audiences as it gears up for what will be an awards run.
4. Argo- $6.7M/$85.7M
5. Taken 2- $4M/$131.3M
6. Here Comes the Boom- $2.55M/$39M
Why is this movie still hanging around?
7. Cloud Atlas- $2.5M/$22.7M
8. Pitch Perfect- $2.5M/$59M
9. The Man with the Iron Fists- $2.49M/$12.7M
Ooff!!! Like a Dave Batista powerbomb, RZA's directorial debut took a crushing 68% blow in its second week. The film didn't fare well with audiences or critics, and the sore word of mouth appears to have had an impact.
10. Hotel Transylvania- $2.35M/$140.9M
Now you see why Sony recently green lit a sequel.

In just 11 theaters, Steven Spielberg's Lincoln opened to a remarkable $900K, roughly $81K per site. With strong early buzz and obvious Oscar potential, expect to see some pretty big numbers when it goes national next weekend.
