The marketing for The Hobbit got a little bit ahead of itself yesterday, like so ahead that it totally jumped the second movie and gave us a first image from the final chapter, There and Back Again. Today they go back to the natural order of things, providing us with a look at Bilbo Baggins in next year's The Desolation of Smaug.
The image shows Bilbo, played by Martin Freeman, looking mighty terrifiedby something. Since the room is full of gold, we can safely assume he just caught a glimpse of the mighty dragon himself. Smaug is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, so in a way this is the weirdest episode of Sherlock ever, right? We see quite a bit more of Smaug and his lair than I thought in the first film, but we'll see a lot more later.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens next week on December 14th, followed by The Desolation of Smaug on December 13th 2013. [EW]
