Sure Shots: 'Terminator'; Seth MacFarlane; Jacob Artist

* It was well over a year ago that producer Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures won the rights to the Terminator franchise, with plans of developing a brand new trilogy of films. There hasn't been much in the way of movement, short of Justin Lin at one time being attached to direct before dropping out. There was even talk of Arnold Schwarzenegger returning as everybody's favorite T-800. As of right now, Ellison is starting over from scratch, and now that the deal has finally closed she's bringing in her brother, David Ellison, to be her financial and creative partner. There's still no script, director, or talent attached but this is a sign that things could be moving forward soon. [Deadline]

* We could be looking at the beginnings of Seth MacFarlane taking over Hollywood the same way he has the small screen. Ted was not only a box office smash, but was well-received by nearly all who saw it, with talk of a sequel already begun. But before that, it appears MacFarlane has another comedy up his sleeve. He'll co-write, direct, and star in an original Western comedy titled A Million Ways to Die in the West.  The live-action film features a script by Family Guy writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, and is said to be in the vein of Blazing Saddles with one particular thread being just how dangerous and painful it was to live in the late 1800s. A romantic female lead needs to be found before production begins next summer. [THR]

* I've never seen a moment of Glee, but I do know that its become a hotbed of up 'n coming film stars. The latest to make the jump is Jacob Artist, who plays somebody named Jake Puckerman on the Fox musical series, as he's now joined the cast of Gregg Araki's developing indie drama White Bird in a Blizzard. He'll play Shailene Woodley's love interest in the film about a young woman whose life is turned upside by the disappearance of her mother. Eva Green, Christopher Meloni, Gabourey Sidibe, and Gabourey Sidibe co-star. [Variety]
