Michael Mann and Chris Hemsworth team for untitled cyber thriller

There's a big fat hole in Chris Hemsworth's schedule now that Steven Spielberg has decided to put Robopocalypse on hold. Given how popular he is, we knew it wouldn't be long before another opportunity popped up, and as it turns out he'll be working on Michael Mann's first film since 2009's Public Enemies.

Variety reports that Mann has been developing an untitled cyber thriller for more than a year, co-writing the script with Morgan Davis Foehl. Foehl is currently scripting the live-action Mass Effect film for Legendary Pictures. Legendary is behind this project, as well, and they tend to only do blockbusters so expect this one to have a pretty big budget. All we know about the story is that it will be set in the world of cyber threats and attacks. Sounds like a dated concept, but we'll see.

Although it's been awhile, Mann has seen his name attached to a number of projects that have gone nowhere, like the racing flick Go Like Hell, Gold, and the historical drama Agincourt. Hemsworth has Thor: The Dark World coming up and has whaling film In the Heart of the Sea possibly with Ron Howard.
