New trailer for Robert Redford's 'The Company You Keep'

A new trailer has been released for writer/director Robert Redford's political thriller, The Company You Keep. The film had a lot of buzz early on thanks to a cast including Shia LaBeouf, Brit Marling, Susan Sarandon, Anna Kendrick, Nick Nolte, Terrence Howard, Chris Cooper, and Stanley Tucci. Only a guy like Redford can pull something like that together, and it sounded like maybe this would be a return to prominence for the screen legend. So where's the film been?

Word has been mixed-to-negative ever since it debuted on the festival circuit, which might be why there's practically no heat behind it now. The general consensus is that it's another in a long string of heavy-handed message films from Redford, with this one dealing with privacy rights and government overreach. Redford plays a former political activist with ties to a domestic terrorist outfit, who sees his quiet life disrupted by an ambitious reporter (LaBeouf) outing his identity.

The latest trailer shows off the impressive ensemble, but the pace is strictly slow burn material. Could be a solid morality tale with obvious real-world relevance. We'll find out when The Company You Keep arrives on April 5th.
