Marvel split between Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'?

Latino Review have gone ahead and basically confirmed one Guardians of the Galaxy rumor from a couple of months ago, although it sounds like they didn't know about it before. The site, which has been throwing out Marvel rumors left and right with only a few sticking, says that ex-WWE star Dave Bautista is up for the role of Drax.

When we first learned of Bautista being targeted by Marvel, he was in contention with the Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa and Generation Kill's Brian Patrick Wade. Bautista has apparently tossed them over the top rope, and now the only one left to contend with is Game of Thrones' Jason Momoa, who entered the mix last month. According to Latino Review, half want Bautista, the other half wants Momoa. I assume they mean half the Marvel execs. Maybe they can have a power lifting competition for the job? I think people would pay to see that. Marvel really can't go wrong either way. Both are built like Sherman tanks, and they can act at just about the same level. Bautista was pretty good in The Man with the Iron Fists, and we just caught a new photo of him brawling Vin Diesel in Riddick.

Kevin Durand (Cosmopolis, Real Steel) is also said to be up for a role, although it's not specified which. He could probably do a good job voicing Groot, but Durand is best as a villain. We haven't heard much about who the Guardians will be facing. It almost certainly won't be Thanos, but maybe one of his many associates.

Head over to Latino Review for the full story, which is mostly made up of them desperately trying to save face over their debunked Planet Hulk rumor.  Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1st 2014.
