New trailer for animated racing film 'Turbo' with Ryan Reynolds

As the writer of The Wrestler and the football drama Big Fan, Robert Siegel knows a thing or two about writing dark, unconventional sports films. How that will translate when it comes to Dreamworks' animated Turbo is one of the great mysteries surrounding the snail racing flick.

A new trailer for the film has been released, and as mature as Siegel's prior work has been, that's how much Turbo is clearly geared towards kids. The story follows the titular snail who has dreams of racing in the Indy 500, and gets his chance when he gains super-speed after a freak accident. It doesn't appear as if Turbo has any particular enemies, so it may just be about overcoming his slow nature and training for the big race.

Featuring the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Bill Hader, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Giamatti, Maya Rudolph, Michael Pena, Richard Jenkins, and more, Turbo takes the stating line on July 19th.
