When Jamie Foxx was brought on to play Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, we were pretty much guaranteed that Marc Webb was going to give us a new take on the character. Filming has been underway on the film for awhile now, and we've seen no end of random set photos that haven't revealed all that much. But now the first photos have been snapped of Foxx, and they are guaranteed to turn a few heads.
Blue, veiny, and hooded, this version of Electro bears little resemblance to the classic interpretation of the Spidey villain. It's much closer to the Ultimate Spider-Man version, who gains his powers through genetic experiments rather than a freak accident. Could OsCorp be playing a role in the creation of the film's Electro, as well? It's certainly a possibility. While I'm thinking about it, he also looks like Superman back when he went through his blue electric phase. That was a rough time for Kal-El fans. Ugh.
It's amazing the transformation Foxx has undergone , so credit has to go to Webb and his crew. The actor previously stated that this version of Electro would be more grounded and "less comic book-y", and they seem to have achieved that.
