Stef Dawson Cast as Annie Cresta in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay'
With The Hunger Games: Catching Fire only a couple of months away, Lionsgate is picking up the pace in casting up Mockingjay parts 1 & 2. Julianne Moore was the first new addition as Alma Coin, followed up last week by Natalie Dormer as Cressida, and now Australian actress Stef Dawson has come aboard as Annie Cresta.
The lover and eventual wife of Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin), Annie was a District 4 victor and winner of the 70th Hunger Games. In the book she's actually reaped to be a part of the 75th Hunger Games, known as the Quarter Quell, until the much older Mags volunteered to take her place because Annie never fully recovered from her ordeal. Interestingly, Dawson hasn't been cast in 'Catching Fire', so we can assume that scene is being cut out from the film. It's the biggest film role of Dawson's career, having only done some small TV and short film work.
Francis Lawrence is directing both Mockingjay chapters for release on November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015.
