Lorene Scafaria and Michael Sucsy to Adapt Relationship Blog '40 Days of Dating'

I
In an ever-changing Hollywood landscape that sees Twitter accounts turned into TV shows (albeit really bad ones), it's perhaps not at all surprising that a relationship blog has now become a feature film. Warner Bros. has now picked up the film rights to the popular blog 40 Days of Dating, and they've attached some pretty good talent to help you forget about its lame origins.

Michael Sucsy, who directed romance drama The Vow to nearly $200M last year, has come aboard to helm the film, which is based on the compiled experiences of friends Timothy Goodman and Jessica Walsh, who agreed to date one another for 40 days when both became single. Most promising is the presence of screenwriter Lorene Scafaria, who wrote the fantastic Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist before making her directorial debut on last year's Seeking A Friend for the End of the World. Reason enough to take this film seriously.

A quick read through the blog shows why this could be an interesting story if done right. Goodman and Walsh are vastly different people, with him more averse to relationships and her a serial monogamist. We get to experience each day from their individual perspectives, and the accounts of their dates are often at odds. They had to follow a certain set of rules, like seeing a couples' therapist, but by the time the experiment ends Tim and Jessica have learned a lot about one another. It's engrossing stuff, and worth going here to check out.
