Matt Bomer to Play Montgomery Clift In New Biopic
A look at Montgomery Clift's filmography doesn't show a ton of credits, but it shows he made the most out of his all-too-brief career. The actor with the movie star good looks earned four Academy Award nominations for memorable performances in The Search, A Place in the Sun, From Here to Eternity, and most poignantly in Judgement at Nuremberg. And now it will be his tragic story that finally gets told on the silver screen.
White Collar and Magic Mike star Matt Bomer will play Clift in an upcoming biopic to be directed by Larry Moss. The story penned by Christopher Lovick will chronicle Clift's meteoric rise to fame and status as a Hollywood sex symbol. A car accident during the filming of Raintree County would derail his career, leaving his face scarred and body racked with constant pain. He would turn to drugs and pills to dull the pain, a combination that affected his looks further and may have contributed to the fatal heart attack he would suffer at the age of 45.
Bomer has been a star on the rise for some time, but this is the sort of big time role that can make a career. A 2014 start date is being planned assuming everything comes together. [Deadline]
