Jake Johnson and Zoe Kazan are two of today's rising stars, breaking out from the indie scene on TV and the big screen. Johnson can be seen every week on New Girl and will appear in Neighbors and Jurassic World, while Kazan created her own opportunity recently with Ruby Sparks. Now they'll come together for The Pretty One, a comedy about death and mistaken identity.
The first trailer for The Pretty One has been released, and for a film with a dark premise it seems pretty funny. Kazan pulls double duty as twins Audrey and Laurel. Audrey is the pretty, outgoing one; while Laurel is the introvert. When Audrey dies, Laurel assumes her sister's big city life until she falls in love with her neighbor, played by Johnson. Johnson's Drinking Buddies co-star Ron Livingston plays one of Audrey's exes.
Written and directed by Jenée LaMarque, The Pretty One opens in limited release on February 7th.
