Cory Michael Smith is The Riddler in TV's 'Gotham'
Fox's Gotham TV series already has a young Catwoman, Penguin, and a colorfully-named mobster played by Jada Pinkett, but what would the crime-filled city be without The Riddler? EW reports that Cory Michael Smith has just landed the role of Edward Nygma in the Batman prequel series, debuting in the very first episode.
It sounds as if this version of the Riddler won't be your typical villain, but a kid desperately trying to make a few friends. He's described as "a brilliant but socially awkward forensic scientist who’s eccentric and outgoing and desperate to be liked." Something tells me he'll really want to make friends with Bruce Wayne, but something will cause a rift between them. Probably a girl. Girls came between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor all the time on Smallville.
Smith isn't a household name by any means, but he can be seen later this year opposite Kristen Stewart in Camp X-ray.
He joins Ben McKenzie, David Mazouz, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, Camren Bicondova, and Erin Richards in the cop drama following a young Jim Gordon's attempts to save Gotham from falling into evil.
