Bryan Singer Could Get Pulled from Directing 'X-men: Apocalypse'

When allegations of sex abuse were made against Bryan Singer recently, it came at a time when he was heavily promoting X-men: Days of Future Past. And we saw that 20th Century Fox's reaction was to pull him from the press tour for awhile, and it didn't have a negative impact on the movie's box office, or at least it doesn't seem to have had any. But with Singer already keyed in to direct X-men: Apocalypse in 2016, this may not be the last time his legal situation becomes an issue.

According to Radar Online, execs within Fox are concerned production on X-men: Apocalypse could be impacted if Singer is busy defending himself in court. And that is a very real, legitimate concern because the studio has big money to think about here, which is why the subject of moving Singer into a producer role and bringing in another director is being considered. Discussions on that topic apparently have not gone well, leading to "heated arguments and walk outs". What isn't clear is if Singer is fighting to save his job or if he's fighting over who would replace him. It would be difficult to believe Singer hasn't at least thought about this scenario and that Fox might need some type of contingency plan.

Singer's deal was made some time ago so no matter what happens he's guaranteed to make a ton of money on X-men: Apocalypse. That's probably the least of his concerns right now, though, while the studio is all about protecting their assets. The site's source notes...

"They don't really care whether he's innocent or guilty- they're only concerned with the bottom line, which is giving him another $250 to $350 million to make Apocalypse."
