First Look at Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke in Alejandro Amenábar's 'Regression'

Alejandro Amenábar is a filmmaker who is probably deserving of more notoriety given what he's been able to accomplish. His debut film, Open Your Eyes, was remade as Vanilla Sky (one of the few movies I walked out of, but that's another story) by Cameron Crowe; his The Sea Inside won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film; and when he went Hollywood for The Others he gave us one of the better ghost stories in recent memory. Basically, it's worth noting when Amenábar has a new project on the way, especially when it features the talents of Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke.

The first image from Amenábar's crime drama, Regression, has been released and it features Watson and Hawke sharing a tearful moment. Amenábar wrote the screenplay and brought on David Thewlis, Devon Bostick, Dale Dickey, David Dencik, and Lothaire Bluteau to co-star. The official synopsis is below and with production wrapped we may see this one in time for the festival circuit in 2015.

PLOT: Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.
