New 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Trailer and Character Posters

This could turn out to be a lucrative summer for Michael Bay, and an ear-shattering one for moviegoers. This week Bay has Transformers: Age of Extinction in which giant metal robots will smash together while the world explodes around them. Then a couple of months later he'll be producing Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where the famous "heroes in a half shell" will smash the bad guys while the world explodes around them.

The latest trailer comes with character posters of Turtle favorites Raphael, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and team leader Leonardo. Bay and Megan Fox have patched up their past differences enough that she stars as intrepid reporter April O'Neil. For the most part they seem to be sticking fairly close to the source material and not going off on any wild extraterrestrial origins as was the original plan.  There's even a clever little joke, probably added in one of the movie's many rewrites, making fun of the whole alien idea. Nice one, guys. And it seems like William Fichtner may not be donning the jacked-up Shredder costume after all? That or we're being thrown a serious bit of misdirection.

Overall this looks like what a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from Michael Bay and Jonathan Liebesman (let's not forget he directed Battle: Los Angeles) should look like, although the hip hop-infused second half of the trailer is a mess. And hey, where is the pizza?? Surely there will be a pizza chain tie-in somewhere? The TMNT strike theaters on August 8th.
