There's more reason to be excited over the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot, and no it doesn't involve Bill Murray coming aboard. Paul Feig, who recently came aboard to helm what would be a female-led reboot, is making things official by bringing on his The Heat co-writer, Katie Dippold. Does this mean Murray's hope for Melissa McCarthy to be part of the film will come true?
THR adds a few more details to information we'd heard over the many years Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman were developing a sequel together. Basically the plan had been to have the original Ghostbusters pass the torch to a younger group. This newer version Feig is putting together will have no connection to the earlier films.
So no casting yet, and certainly nothing on Murray's other hopefuls like Emma Stone, Linda Cardellini, or Kristen Wiig, but adding Dippold certainly suggest McCarthy could be on board. We shall see.
