'Captain America: Civil War' Adds Daniel Bruhl in a Secret Role

While Marvel has done a pretty good job of creating new stars by putting them in prominent leading roles, they've been even better landing acclaimed actors for supporting roles. One only need to look at what they've done with Robert Redford, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly and others for proof of that. And now they've added another highly-regarded name as Daniel Bruhl has joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War.

Bruhl is best known for his performances in QuentinTarantino's Inglourious Basterds and Ron Howard's Rush, but also for co-starring in The Fifth Estate, which was led by future Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch. Marvel isn't giving us any clue what Bruhl's role will be, but Deadline says it will be a villainous turn. Consider that this storyline is based on Civil War, which will have Iron Man and Captain America on opposing sides.

Call me crazy, but when I think of the German-born Bruhl the first thought that comes to my mind is Red Skull. Yes, he was played by Hugo Weaving previously but that was when the story was still set during WWII. Red Skull has a part to play in Civil War (he has a hand in Cap's ultimate fate), and there's no reason why he wouldn't have a new face.

So let the speculation begin. Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th 2016.
