Steven Spielberg wants to Direct Chris Pratt in the 'Indiana Jones' Reboot

Although he hasn't directed one of his big money franchises since 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Steven Spielberg still serves as a producer on pretty much everything. That includes the upcoming Jurassic World, which stars the red-hot Chris Pratt who seems to be up for everything right now. And that includes a future Indiana Jones movie, with rumors surfacing last month he was Disney's top choice to headline a total reboot. Apparently, Spielberg is a big fan of that idea, too.

According to a story at Deadline, if the script works out to his satisfaction Spielberg plans on directing the new Indiana Jones movie. What's more, he really wants Pratt to take the role of the whip-wielding adventurer. There's no script in play yet so this is still very early on, but the combination makes sense. Spielberg played a big part in Pratt landing the Jurassic World gig, and clearly he likes the way that turned out.

It's possible that Spielberg directing could increase the chances of Harrison Ford returning for a fifth time, maybe to pass the torch. Or maybe Ford is just done and Disney is moving on. Whatever the case, it will be awhile before we see another Indiana Jones movie. Spielberg's next film will be the Tom Hanks-led Cold War drama, St. James Day. He's also got an adaptation of children's book The BFG. That will be followed by Thank You For Your Service which may reunite him with Lincoln star Daniel-Day Lewis, and is penned by American Sniper writer Jason Hall.
