Ben Mendelsohn May be Up for a Role in 'Star Wars: Rogue One'

Think about it: Is there any film that hasn't been 100% improved by the mere presence of Ben Mendelsohn? The answer is "no", and that could bode very well for Star Wars: Rogue One if Deadline's latest report turns out to be on point.

According to the site, Mendelsohn is up for a lead role in the Star Wars spinoff which we know Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) will direct. Felicity Jones has the female lead and Chris Weitz is penning the screenplay, but otherwise we don't know anything about it except for the December 16th 2016 release date.

A look at Mendelsohn's filmography should give an idea why Disney, really any studio, would be seeking out his skills. He's been terrific in Animal Kingdom, The Place Beyond the Pines, The Dark Knight Rises, Killing Them Softly, and wait until audiences get a load of him in Slow West and Mississippi Grind. He'd make for one heck of a bounty hunter as part of the Star Wars universe.
