Steve Martin Joins Ang Lee's 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk'
Steve Martin hasn't headline a film since 2011's forgettable bird-watching comedy, The Big Year, but he's decided on his next leading role and it's a big one. The veteran comedian, writer, and actor will star in Oscar-winning director Ang Lee's next film, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk.
Already set to star Garrett Hedlund and Joe Alwyn, the film is an adaptation of Ben Fountain's best-selling novel about 19-year-old Billy Lynn, an Iraq War soldier who is part of a squad that becomes famous for surviving a battle caught on television. The unit is brought home and treated as war heroes by the U.S. government, sent on a promotional tour culminating in an appearance during a Texas football game's halftime show, only to learn they will be sent right back into war when it is over.
Next up for Martin is a voice role in the animated family film, Home. [Deadline]
