With franchise co-creator James Wan off steering Furious 7, some major changes are in the works for Insidious Chapter 3. Directing the film is Wan's frequent partner Leigh Whannell, and the story they came up with together is going in a different direction...like all the way back to the origins of pure evil.
Rather than a sequel, Insidious Chapter 3 is an origin story on the series' most popular characters, Lin Shaye's psychic Elise Rainier, and her pair of bumbling ghostbusters played by Angus Sampson and Whannell himself. Stefanie Scott plays a young woman possessed by a demonic spirit with Dermot Mulroney as her father who calls Elise for help combating the supernatural.
Insidious Chapter 3 opens June 5th.
