Could Doctor Strange Debut On Netflix's Iron Fist Series?

While we have a pretty good idea when Marvel will debut Black Panther and Spider-Man, they've been keeping Doctor Strange's first appearance a total mystery. Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play the good Doctor in a Scott Derrickson-directed film in 2016, but where will he appear first? It might not be on the big screen as many expect, but possibly on one of Marvel's Netflix series.

The latest rumor to emerge at Bleeding Cool says Doctor Strange will appear on the Iron Fist Netflix series before making the jump to feature films. That's about all they've got, except to add that Cumbermatch may only voice the character rather than appear as him in the flesh. So what, Doctor Strange speaking from the astral plane or something?

If this is true it could be a recent decision by Marvel following on the strong reaction to Daredevil. Still, it would be unusual to launch a franchise character on a streaming series, regardless of how interconnected the Marvel Universe may be. 

Doctor Strange opens November 4th 2016.  Marvel and Netflix have yet to set a firm date for Iron Fist but it's expected to be the last of the shows to premiere.
