'Fifty Shades Darker' to be Written by E.L. James' Husband
Although there have been a number of problems for Universal as they try to mount Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey, the film is definitely moving forward one way or another. The major issue has revolved around author E.L. James who fought with director Sam Taylor-Johnson and screenwriter Kelly Marcel so much they've both left the lucrative franchise willingly. Now James has been angling to write the sequel herself, and while Universal hasn't been too keen on that idea it appears a deal has been struck that should make everyone happy.
According to THR, James' husband Niall Leonard will adapt Fifty Shades Darker for the screen. He's done some work for British TV like the series Wire in the Blood and Wild at Heart, plus he did some uncredited script work on Fifty Shades of Grey.
This gets the ball rolling on production finally, and James can make dinner conversation awkward or withhold certain things from her husband if he doesn't do as commanded. Everybody wins! Now let's see if stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson hold out for a pay raise.
