A Superhero Dream Comes True in the Trailer for Documentary 'Batkid Begins'

Gotham City doesn't always have to be such a dark and gloomy place. Back in 2013, for a single day, Batman's crime-riddled town became a place of hope and inspiration. It was on November 15th of that year when thousands of people, using the power of social media, gathered in San Francisco to join the Make-A-Wish Foundation in turning the city into a version of Gotham so that 5-year-old Miles Scott, who suffers from leukemia, could be Batkid for a day.

The result was 25,000 people converging on San Francisco to make Miles' dream of saving the city a reality, and the whole thing became a global sensation. Batkid Begins, a documentary by Dana Nachman, debuted earlier this year at the Slamdance Film Festival, and it tells the story of the people, these superheroes in their own right, who made this special event happen.

Batkid Begins opens on June 26th, and you can check out the first trailer for it below.
