So what would you get if Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation was crossed with Godzilla? Apparently you get Colossal, the latest film from writer/director Nacho Vigalondo (Open Windows), and it's just crazy enough to snag Anne Hathaway as its female lead.
According to THR, Hathaway has agreed to star in the film, playing Gloria, an ordinary who decides to leave her New York City life after losing her job and fiance. She heads back home, only to learn of a giant lizard rampaging through Tokyo, and comes to realize she is connected to the creature by the power of her mind.
Uh, sure, we can dig it. Once again Hathaway has been called on to save the world, but Interstellar wasn't half as insane as this sounds. The project is still early on as it will head to the sales floor at Cannes. Vigalondo, who also directed Timecrimes, is a highly visual filmmaker with a unique sense of style and could do some amazing things with a giant monster movie like this.
