First Look at Mark Wahlberg in Peter Berg's 'Deepwater Horizon'

When JC Chandor (All is Lost, A Most Violent Year) left the Deepwater Horizon film he had been so gung-ho for, it was obviously an incredible loss to the entire production. The issue was creative differences, and we got a sense of what those issues might have been when Peter Berg, who mostly known for large-scale action flicks like Battleship and Lone Survivor, was brought on to replace him. What kind of film it turns out to be now under Berg's guidance remains to be seen, but for now we've got the first image and it features his Lone Survivor star, Mark Wahlberg.

Wahlberg plays Mike Williams, who was one of the last to escape the BP oil rig disaster in 2010, causing the largest spill in the history of the industry. The explosion killed eleven people and caused a gusher to flow for more than 80 days, spilling millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf. The film, which co-stars Dylan O'Brien, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell, Gina Rodriguez, and John Malkovich, will center on the brave men and women aboard the rig who fought to survive the disaster.

Deepwater Horizon opens September 30th 2016.
