First 'Warcraft' Images Introduce Orgrim Doomhammer of the Orcish Horde

Rob Kazinsky played Reese Witherspoon's love interest in Hot Pursuit, and the Aussie Jaeger pilot in Pacific Rim, but the biggest role of his career won't even show his face. The actor is set to star in Duncan Jones' big screen take on hit video game, Warcraft, playing the mighty orc warchief, Ogrim Doomhammer.

Universal has revealed via Wired the first images of Ogrim in the CGI spectacle, with special effects crafted by Industrial Light and & Magic based on designs from the best-selling fantasy/adventure game. Jones explained to the outlet what he saw in Kazinsky that made him the right choice to play the orc...

“We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character. We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies. “We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.”

Warcraft has been in development for nearly a decade already, and that may explain why buzz on the film has been pretty quiet. Jones came aboard a couple of years ago and that's when the project really took off.  Also starring Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wrynn, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ben Foster as Medivh, Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar, and Ruth Negga as Lady Taria, and on the side of The Horde is also Clancy Brown as Blackhand, Toby Kebbel as Durotan, Daniel Wu as Gul’Dan, and Paula Patton as Garona, Warcraft opens June 10th 2016.
