Hugh Jackman Confirms He's Done with the X-Men After 'The Wolverine 3'

Hugh Jackman has said so many times over the years that he was done playing Wolverine that it no longer has any value. However, he seemed more serious than ever recently when he teased his final time as the clawed mutant in The Wolverine 3. With rumors that Bryan Singer's X-Men franchise will end after X-Men: Apocalypse maybe Jackman saw the end coming. Whatever the case, he's not backing down from his promise one bit.

Jackman appeared on the Dr. Oz show for some reason and reiterated that 2017's The Wolverine 3 will be his last....

“It is my last time, It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”

Go ahead, wipe away your tears. It's understandable. Jackman has defined Wolverine for the big screen and it will be difficult to accept another actor in the role, assuming that's the direction 20th Century Fox goes. They may decide to focus on the new cast of actors playing young versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and more.
