New Trailer for Breakout Sundance Film 'Dope'
The Sundance and Cannes audiences aren't the same, so while one film may have been a hit in Park City it may not fare as well on the Croisette. Will that turn out to be the case for Rick Famuyiwa's smash comedy, Dope, which has everybody and their grandmother excited to see it this summer? We'll find out when the film plays at Cannes later this month, but here's a new trailer courtesy of BET.
Shameik Moore, The Grand Budapest Hotel's Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Zoe Kravitz, A$AP Rocky, and more star in the film about a trio of '90s-obsessed California teens who get involved in a dangerous drug scheme. It's a film that has a ton of energy, a cast of characters that are fun to hang out with, but in my opinion doesn't necessarily make the best use of them. Some have taken my criticisms to mean I don't like the film but they would be wrong.
Dope hits theaters on June 19th.
