One of the things I've enjoyed most about Barack Obama is seeing how his personality changes when around his lovely wife, Michelle. While he's always the coolest guy in the room when talking policy or kickin' it with the press, he becomes a total dork when she's around. Whatever one thinks about him as President, his love for Michelle is palpable. Late last year we learned Tika Sumpter would be playing a young Michelle in the feature film, Southside with You, and now today we've learned who will be her future husband.
Monsters: Dark Continent's Parker Sawyers will play Barack Obama in the film which is based on his very first date with Michelle back in 1989. He was Harvard law student working in a Chicago law firm, which is where he met the woman he would eventually become his First Lady. It took some time for him to win her over, so he filled that summer date with everything from trips to the Art Institute of Chicago to a screening of Do the Right Thing, and eventually to little ice cream parlor where they shared a first kiss.
Richard Tanne is making his directorial debut working from his own screenplay, and while this seems like a small-scale effort it's bound to get a lot of attention. Maybe someone can ask Obama what he thinks about the film at the next press conference?
