Paul Feig Joining with 'Broad City' Creators for New Comedy

Having never seen a moment of Comedy Central's Broad City, and not really having any desire to, I can't speak to how "great" its creators and stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are. But there is a buzz around these two that guaranteed a jump to Hollywood would happen soon, and unsurprisingly it will be alongside Paul Feig, who knows a thing or two about funny women.

Broad City's creators and stars will be working with Feig on a feature-length comedy for 20th Century Fox, and that's all we really know about it. Jacobson and Glazer developed the pitch but they won't be starring in the film, a fact which is sure to disappoint fans of their raunchy series. Feig will produce, helping to guide the project just as he helped build the big-screen careers of Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. He's currently developing an all-female Ghostbusters, and is the director of Spy, both of which feature McCarthy. Last year he directed the buddy comedy The Heat, starring McCarthy and Sandra Bullock.

Hopefully their first foray onto the big screen will be as successful as Amy Schumer's, who by most accounts is terrific in Judd Apatow's Trainwreck. Broad City is turning out to be fertile ground for Hollywood to pluck from. A pair of the show's writers are currently developing an all-female 21 Jump Street spinoff. Just somebody promise me these two are funnier than Ass Backwards' Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael? E [THR]
