Last summer Bryan Singer found himself in the midst of a scandal, an ugly one that nearly cost him the directing job on X-Men: Apocalypse. A man named Michael Egan had accused Singer of sexually abusing him as a child. That some in the entertainment industry have sought to take advantage of those looking to make it big in Hollywood isn't shocking, but the true depths of it have never been exposed like they are in Amy Berg's explosive documentary, An Open Secret, and Singer's accuser is just one telling his story.
Berg is no stranger to taking on tough subject matter, mostly involving the abuse or children. She directed the West Memphis Three doc, West of Memphis; brought attention to the Catholic Church sex scandal with Deliver Us from Evil; and recently explored the life of polygamist leader and convicted sexual abuser Warren Jeffs in Propher's Prey. An Open Secret follows five men recounting their horrific tales of sexual misconduct at the hands of Hollywood elites who promised them stardom.
An Open Secret hits theaters on June 5th.
