Woody Allen is already hard at work on next year's still-untitled film, another romantic comedy that will star Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, and Bruce Willis. So he probably isn't too concerned about the lukewarm response to this summer's film, Irrational Man, which just debuted at Cannes. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as a college professor who gets involved with two very different woman. One is a married woman played by Parker Posey, the other is one of his students played by Emma Stone.
Two clips from the film have been released, and really the focus is on the ladies in both. In one, we see Posey's character as she tries to help Phoenix get over his writer's block, but she's really concerned he has a thing for Stone. In the other scene, Stone's boyfriend (Jamie Blackley) suspects she's interested in Phoenix.
So lots of romantic suspicion here, which should make for solid comic material for Allen. We'll see when Irrational Man opens July 17th.
