'Captain America: Civil War' Rumors Tease Serious Character Upgrades and Hint at Black Panther's Mission

Captain America: Civil War is filming right now, and while you can find a ton of set pics floating around the 'net, there are also no shortage of rumors going around. Joblo has rounded up a few more, and they tease some serious upgrades for Falcon, War Machine, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, and possibly reveal Black Panther's allegiances.

The story suggests that T'Challa aka Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) will be doing his own thing while the whole Superhero Registration Act is being put into place. However, he may begin as siding slightly more on pro-registration side, putting him at odds with Cap and leading to some kind of battle, in which the Panther will more than hold his own. His suit is said to be totally outfitted in Vibranium and he'll also have some kind of Panther-jet, which sounds pretty ridiculous and like something made-up by a fanboy. Sorry, but it's true. Cap may finally be adding his classic chainmail to his costume, too.

We know that Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie's Falcon, Don Cheadle's War Machine, and even Paul Rudd's Ant-Man will be a part of the action, and they're all getting some kind of costume or weaponry upgrade. Hawkeye is said to be adding more purple to his costume to closer resemble his original 616 suit. Granted, we'll probably never see him wear the full mask and cowl, but that's alright. Ant-Man will not only get a more stylish techno-suit but he'll also switch into Giant-Man form, meaning we should see him use the Pym Particles to grow rather than shrink. This sounds like something that should be an Ant-Man movie, not Cap 3. There will also be a scene in which he shrinks down and stands on one of Hawkeye's arrows, ready to be fired. That sounds cool. War Machine will be more tank-like and have some kind of shoulder cannon he can detach and use as a striking weapon. Again, fanboy service.

The coolest bit involves Falcon, who may finally be pairing up with this bird companion, Redwing. For those who don't know, in the comics Falcon shares a telepathic link with all birds, but he has a special bond with Redwing. While that's undeniably awesome for fans of the comic, I'd be very interested in seeing how they make this fit into the MCU world. One of the best aspects of Falcon in the MCU is that he's just a normal soldier living in a world of powered heroes, and this undercuts that in a pretty big way.

Anyway, these are all rumors and none of it may happen. Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th 2016.
