Given how red-hot Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn is right now, it's a little strange the lack of buzz for Dark Places, a star-studded adaptation of her book. Perhaps the lack of David Fincher's direction is the problem? The film is already out overseas and will hit stateside this summer, but there simply isn't much talk about it at all. Perhaps the latest trailer will help change that.
Directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah's Key) and starring Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christina Hendricks, Tye Sheridan, and Corey Stoll, the film centers on Libby Day, who 25 years earlier testified against her brother for the murder of their parents. Libby is eventually brought before a group of mystery enthusiasts known as the Kill Club who hope to discover the truth about what really happened.
Dark Places hits theaters on August 7th.
