Elisha Cuthbert Hits the Ice for 'Goon: Last of the Enforcers'

Before she appeared last year in Courteney Cox's directorial debut, Just Before I Go, Elisha Cuthbert hadn't been in a feature film since 2009. She's kept busy on the small screen, starring for three seasons on the ABC series Happy Endings, and the quickly-canceled comedy One Big Happy. Now she's headed back to the big screen for a film that should tap into her fierce love of professional hockey.

Cuthbert, who is Canadian and happens to be married to pro hockey player Dion Phaneuf of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has joined the cast of hockey comedy Goon: Last of the Enforcers. The film is a sequel to the cult hit Goon, and will again star Seann William Scott as hockey thug Doug Glatt as he leads a new team while in the midst of a players' strike. Cuthbert will play the outlandish sister to Eva, played by the returning Alison Pill. Liev Screiber is also expected to reprise his role, as well as Jay Baruchel who will be making his directorial debut.

Cuthbert had a pretty good run in the mid 2000s with The Girl Next Door, 24, and House of Wax, and it's good to see her in something that I might actually check out. Filming on the Goon sequel begins later this month. [THR]
