Marion Cotillard Joins Brad Pitt for Robert Zemeckis' Spy Thriller

This is turning out to be a very busy day for projects involving Brad Pitt. Not only was his upcoming film with The Rover director David Michod picked up by Netflix, but Marion Cotillard is now set to join him in the spy thriller that will be directed by Robert Zemeckis.

News of Pitt and Zemeckis' film emerged earlier this year, but we haven't heard a lot about until now. The still-untitled drama features a script by Steven Knight (Locke) and is set in WWII and basically sounds like a wartime Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Pitt and Cotillard will play assassins who fall in love while on a mission to kill a German ambassador in Casablanca. They get married, but things fall apart when Pitt's French-Canadian character learns his wife is a double-agent for the Germans, and his new mission is to kill her.

So lots of potential here, especially with Knight penning the screenplay. Filming will begin next year to give Pitt time to shoot Michod's War Machine. [THR]
