Jason Statham Just Crapped All Over Marvel's Action Style

Man, Jason Statham may be rumored for Daredevil's second season, but the Transporter star has zero respect for the way Marvel does things. At least, he doesn't care for the way they do action scenes or the actors who are in them. Considering the elbows he's throwing in this interview (via Slashfilm), I find it highly unlikely he'll be signing on to be in anything Marvel wants him for.

Statham: "A lot of the modern sort of action movies I see, you know, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think, any guy can do it. I have no ambition. I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a greenscreen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they’re relying on stunt doubles, and greenscreen, and $200 million budget, it’s all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic. I’m inspired by old, real star guys that can really do it."

So he's not exactly talking about Daredevil, but that's not really the point, is it? It's the attitude he's showing, which frankly we shouldn't be at all surprised about. Statham is an old school kind of action star, the kind who doesn't mind putting his body on the line for a role, and that's not what Marvel does. Now, if they threw enough $$$ his way he may sing a different tune, but do we really expect that to happen for Daredevil? Probably not.
