Oscar Isaac and Christian Bale Part of a Love Triangle in 'The Promise'

Oscar Isaac is already one of the most respected actors working today, following buzzed-about roles in Inside Llewyn Davis, A Most Violent Year, and most recently Ex Machina. But he's on the verge of becoming a mega-franchise star thanks to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and next year's X-Men: Apocalypse. Fortunately, he's still finding time for solid dramatic parts like the latest film from Hotel Rwanda director, Terry George.

Isaac is set to star alongside Christian Bale in The Promise, a romantic drama set during the fall of the Ottoman Empire at the time of the Armenian genocide. George will direct and co-wrote the script with Robin Swicord (Memoirs of a Geisha) that centers on a thrill-seeking American journalist (Bale) and a medical student (Isaac) who fall in love with the same woman.

The role of their love interest has yet to be cast, but this sounds like the kind of prestige project that should attract a lot of attention. Besides, what actress wouldn't want to be stuck in-between these two gentlemen? Production begins this fall. [TheWrap]
