'Pitch Perfect 3' is On, but Who Will Return?
Pitch Perfect may have come out of nowhere to be a blockbuster smash a couple of years ago, but it was expected that its sequel would be a hit. That turned out to be dead-on accurate, too, as Pitch Perfect 2, which cost a relatively small $29M, opened with $70M (!!!) and ended has earned $250M as of today. Not bad at all, and while we've already heard Rebel Wilson talking about a third film, it isn't until now that we're seeing the first official steps in that direction.
Screenwriter Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two Pitch Perfect movies, is in talks to begin work on a third. No plot details yet, obviously, but this one is probably going to cost Universal a pretty penny. Stars like Anna Kendrick and Wilson won't come cheap since they aren't locked in contractually, nor will director/co-star Elizabeth Banks assuming they want her to return. There's still some question how exactly they plan to reunite the Bellas after the events of the last film. Count on Hailee Steinfeld to be leading the a capella squad next time as she was signed to a multi-picture deal to be part of the franchise.
That's all we know. Pitch Perfect 3 is coming, and that's pretty aca-awesome. [THR]
