'Star Wars: Rogue One' Recruits Forest Whitaker

Suddenly Forest Whitaker is more of a franchise actor than ever in his career. Earlier this year he chased around Liam Neeson in Taken 3, and he recently joined the troubled remake of The Crow. Now he's taking on his biggest film yet by going into a galaxy far far away for Star Wars: Rogue One.

Whitaker has joined the Star Wars Anthology film directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and starring Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Sam Claflin, and Diego Luna. Whitaker's role is still being kept hidden since this is expected to be a "dark and gritty" war movie about a plot to steal the Death Star plans, don't be surprised if Whitaker plays some kind of military commander.

Star Wars: Rogue One hits theaters on December 16th 2016. [Variety]
