The Warner Bros. panel just ended and they pulled out all of the stops to take advantage of Marvel's absence at Comic-Con. While they didn't reveal who would take on the role of Green Lantern as many expected, they did announce that the next GL film would be Green Lantern Corp.
No official release date was confirmed but the WB schedule had it set for some time in 2020. The GL Corps are essentially space cops, just as were seen in the failed Ryan Reynolds-led Green Lantern film from a years ago. If Pine takes the role he'll likely play Hal Jordan, but there is obviously room for someone else to play John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and maybe even Kyle Rayner, other humans who have taken the GL mantle.
Suicide Squad director David Ayer hit the stage and basically put out a challenge against Marvel, although he said he wasn't trying to start an "east coast/west coast' war". He brought the entire cast, minus Jared Leto, up on stage and revealed footage from the villain film. The cast of anti-heroes resembled a gang, similar to The Warriors, working out of back alleys totally unlike the government squad they are. We got a look at Margot Robbie's psychotically sexual Harley Quinn, plus Let's take on The Joker, which appears to be much less theatrical than Heath Ledger's, but just as terrifying.
Also, Zack Snyder came on stage with much of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cast before unveiling a series of promo art shots. Then, a brand new trailer was shown that tore the roof off of Hall H. In it we saw Lex Luthor is in possession of Kryptonite, and that General Zod's dead body is being used for something sinister. Batman's past encounters with Joker are shown, with what appears to be a Robin costume spraypainted with "The joke's on you, Batman". Also, a Batman from years earlier is seen fighting, plus we caught a glimpse of Wonder Woman in what appears to be a fight with Superman. The anticipated fight between Batman and Superman goes from the streets to the skyscrapers of Metropolis, including one scene where Superman rips the top off the Batmobile, leading to a face-off. You can watch the new trailer below, which was accompanied by the new poster seen above!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25th 2016. Suicide Squad opens August 5th 2016.
